The age of enlightenment in the 18th century saw dramatic changes in the arts, sciences and technology. Josiah Wedgwood had a significant role through his involvement in manufacturing, transport, marketing and all aspects of domestic life. His friends were the most eminent men of this era.

Gaye has curated the Department of Ceramics and Glass at the V&A London, followed by the Wedgwood Museum, which received the Art Fund Prize of ‘Museum of the Year’. Gaye has received an Honorary Doctorate from Keele and an MBE.
