The end of the War brought a desire for celebration but bad news still filtered back from the front, for some joy turned to sorrow. The Spanish Flu pandemic brought death closer to home. Families waited for their loved ones to return, but when? How would the maimed cope in the future? Would the promise of jobs being held open be kept? The war was over but the peace was yet to be won.
Dr Derek Beattie is a retired History lecturer and on the committee of Ludlow HIstorical Research Group. He has written books on the social history of Ludlow.
Tickets £5 on the door.
