John Tucker's talk is on William E.Beckwith (1844-1892) who was a pre-eminent ornithologist. He was working on Birds of Shropshire when he died suddenly before completion of his work.. His publications in the 'Transactions of the Shropshire Natural History and Philosophical Society' have lain, largely unseen for 124 years. John, along with his brother, has published all his 32 works on birds and his talk will take the form of an introduction about William and the environment in his century. There is currently a display on William in the Foyer of the Ludlow Museum Resource Centre.
